Tasting notes from Poland

We write here a quick summary about the tasting notes of Hécula, Santa, Colección and Casa Cisca that have been published in the polish web Hiszpania-Portal.PL.

Hécula 2014

Hécula wine is appreciated by consumers in many countries around the world. Aged for 6 months in oak barrels.

Colour: Intense and shiny red

Nose: It is well-balance. Pleasant ripe red fruit aroma (raspberry) with elegants hints of liquorice and herbs.

Mouth: On the palate is juicy, fresh and with good acidity. Long and pleasant aftertaste.

There are a lot of arguments to buy this wine. The first one is the price, that in Spain is less than 7€. In return we get a wine perfectly balance, modern, fruity and freshness. A wine to pair with a wide range of red meat.

 

Santa 2014 Familia Castaño

Santa wine is a blend of the most popular grape varieties in the DO Yecla, Monastrell (90%) and Garnacha Tintorera. It is produced by Bodegas Castaño, a winery known for its incomparable (in terms of value for money) wine Hécula. Santa is more expensive than Hécula. Aged in American and French oak barrels for 10 months.

Colour: Deep cherry red.

Nose: Medium intense aroma. Good balance of red and black berries with notes of vanilla, black pepper and elegant smoke hint.

Mouth: On the palate it is round, meaty, with notes of ripe red fruit (cherry, raspberry). Sweet soft tannins with a long pleasant ending.

Santa 2014 is a good wine, fresh and easy to drink. Pair with meats and medium mature cheeses.

 

Castaño Colección Cepas Viejas 2014

The wine is a blend of Monastrell and Cabernet sauvignon. The grapes come from old vines.  This wine has been aged for 12 months in French oak barrels.

Colour: Lively cherry colur, bright.

Nose: Complex, well balanced. Intense aroma of black fruits (blackberries and blueberries) with notes of black pepper and vanilla.

Mouth: Full-bodied, with marked but elegant tannins. Long and persistent finish.

Castaño Coleccion Cepas Viejas 2014 is a complex and full-bodied wine with smoked notes. This wine pairs with many popular meat dishes and snacks.

 

Casa Cisca Monastrell 2013 Familia Castaño

Casa Cisca es el vino premium de Bodegas Castaño, uno de los mejores monovarietales de Monastrell de la D. O. Yecla. Se produce a partir de uvas procedentes de cepas viejas de unos 60 años. Envejecido durante 16 meses en barricas de roble.

Casa Cisca is the top wine from Bodegas Castaño. It is produced with grapes from vines with more than 60 years old. Aged for 16 months in oak barrels.

Colour: Deep, dark cherry colour.

Nose: A wine with a powerful aroma of ripe red and black fruit with hints of liqueurs, plum and currant jam. Clear notes of coffee, tobacco and eucalyptus.

Mouth: On the palate is unctuous, meaty and well structured, with sweet tannins and pleasant acidity. Wood well integrated with the fruit.

Casa Cisca 2013 is an elegant and full-bodied wine. It is indicated 30 minutes of decanting. Pair with juicy meats, sauces and bold flavors (eg. Truffle).
